Privacy Policy
ShapeCam · last updated 29 August 2026
ShapeCam is made by JoCoding. This policy describes exactly what the app does and does not collect. It is written to be checked against the app's behaviour, not to cover us for things we do not do.
Your photos, videos and shapes never leave your device
Taking a photo, masking it to a shape, recording a GIF, editing, using the canvas, and exporting all happen entirely on your phone. ShapeCam has no server that receives images, and there is no account to sign in to. Media you create is written only to your own photo library. Custom shapes you draw are stored as a small file inside the app on your device.
Deleting the app removes the shapes and every setting with it.
Camera, microphone and photo library
The camera is used to show the live viewfinder and take shots. The microphone is used only while recording. Photo-library access is used to save what you make, and to let you pick an existing photo to frame inside a shape. Each permission is requested the first time the matching feature is used, and none of that content is transmitted anywhere.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to check whether a subscription is active; it receives a randomly generated app user ID together with the receipt and basic device and country information from the store. That identifier is not linked to your name, email or any account, because ShapeCam has none.
Feedback you choose to send
If you send feedback from Settings, we receive the message you typed, the app version, the platform, the device model, your language, and a random identifier generated on first launch so we can rate-limit spam. We do not receive any of your photos, shapes or canvases. If you put personal information into the message itself, we will have it — so please do not.
What we do not do
- No advertising. ShapeCam shows no ads on any tier, uses no advertising identifier, and contains no ad SDK.
- No tracking or cross-app profiling.
- No analytics inside the app.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
This website
This site — and only this site, not the app — uses Google Analytics to count visits and which buttons get clicked. If you would rather it did not, any browser-level analytics blocker prevents it.
Children
ShapeCam is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Because there is no account, there is normally nothing of yours for us to hold. The one exception is feedback you chose to send. Email us and we will delete it; the random identifier attached to it is the only way to find it, so please send the request from the app or tell us roughly when you wrote.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
